It’s Gonna Be May! (And We’re Going to UKGE)
We are officially in May! And besides the inevitable Justin Timberlake memes (yes, I’m showing my age, but I regret nothing), we are officially on the countdown to UKGE (The UK Games Expo).
For my family and me, this has always been one of the highlights of the year. It’s a chance to reconnect with friends, learn new mechanics, and cast dreamy-eyed looks at fancy dice and "epic-length" games we’ll likely never have the time to play now that we're parents.
Over the last 10 years, our experience of the expo has evolved, but the fun never faded. We were introduced to the show by close friends and have attended as an engaged couple, newlyweds, expectant parents, and—most recently—as a family with a young child in tow. It’s been quite a journey looking back on how much has changed in a decade.
2026 Bingo Card Surprise
This year marks a massive "first" for us: We are exhibitors!
I can still barely believe it. While "becoming a professional board game company" wasn't exactly on our 2026 bingo card, we couldn't be more thrilled to share our game with the community that has been our home for so long.
Last year’s attendance hit 42,000 people over three days. Thinking about that number caused a small moment of "mass panic" for our team. As a two-person company, there is no way we can manufacture on a massive scale with only 60 days to prepare. So, we decided to stick to our core values and do our absolute best.
We are keeping things local and intentional:
UK-Made - We are producing as many copies as possible using entirely UK-based suppliers. (Fabric from The Cheap Shop in Essex, ignoring the name they are one of the best local fabric suppliers, really helpful, great selection and amazing staff. Woven Labels by GB Labels online, The Green Stamp company for our lovely personalised stamp and supplies, Instaprint for all our game, UKCA and business cards. Activ8 for our printed event wall, ColourSafe Consortium for our filament testing certification and many more.)
Family-First - We are dedicated to creating the best environment possible for parents and kids at our stand.
Fun - Above all, we’re there to enjoy the ride!
Our game, ‘Don’t Get The Duck,’ was created to keep kids happy, safe, and entertained. If you’re curious about the origin story, check out my previous blog posts for the full "behind the scenes" look.
Join the Adventure
We’ve met some incredible people on this path—fellow designers, veteran stall holders, and kind souls across the industry. We are also honored to announce that we’ve been asked to take part in this year's Catan Scavenger Hunt!
We can’t wait to see you there. If you want to help us grow, please consider following us on TikTok (so we can finally go "Live"!) or your social platform of choice. Every follower helps a small company like ours grow that bit more.
Have a wonderful Bank Holiday Weekend, and we’ll see you at UKGE 2026!
