Plastic is inevitable.
As someone who has tried to go low plastic, environmentally friendly and remain in budget it can be pretty much impossible for Mums (and Dad's).
And when your little one's beg for you to give them an easter egg hunt the fillable egg is cost effective and in our case dog safe alternative to 20 chocolate eggs laying around in the garden.
A lot of those plastic fillable eggs are not able to be recycled so make sure to put them away for next year if you can or get as much play out of them as you can first.
Here are a few options we love!
1: Egg Ice Age
If your egg has no holes they are perfect to fill with water and a plastic toy or even some stones, pompoms or curled up pipe cleaners.
Pop them in the freezer over night and pop them out of the shells in the morning. Let your little chip away at the ice (give it about 5-10 mins to thaw a bit first) Top tip: play-doh tools work a treat for this.
2: Shakers
Fill your eggs with beads, toy gems, rice or even cereal. Give it a shake and see what sounds they make. Are they a good shaker or a bad one? Let the kids work out why glitter might not sound as good compared to rice and let take in cultivate those awareness skills.
3: Wobble eggs
I never had a wobble egg growing up, heck I did'nt even know what it was! However its great fun for the 7+ plus kids.
Put some modelling clay, air dry clay or even play-doh in the bottom half of the egg. Seal it up with tap or hot glue and then get the kids to decorate them.
Have a search for Wobble egg Ninja online and your see some great designs with googly eyes and black tape.
The best bit is it throughs off the egg balancing making them wobble back and forth.
